Another thing I noticed while driving through the country was that some of the children were not wearing clothes and most did not have shoes. I was wondering if they did not own any or if it was part of their culture, that it’s not important.
Climbing Trees!

The past two days when we are in music class, a bunch of children come out and listen, it being the same time as they get out of school. Yesterday we sang fun songs with them and did different actions with them. Now I understand why we sang all of those ridiculous songs during boot camp that you can never be rid from your mind. After singing, we played duck-duck-goose with them. It was so adorable to see them laughing and running around with us. Most of them are very shy at first, but warm up to us the more we talk to them. That is something I have to get used to; initiating the conversation first.
Today a bunch of boys came wearing their school uniforms. Unfortunately we had to go have free time and I need a shower. Showers here are exciting. I carry the water up to the compound in jerrycans and shower in this unfinished room they have put clack tarps over the windows and doors. There is no roof. Little awkward. After we went to play with the children again. They could climb trees like I’ve never seen. The oldest girl, probably 7 years, kept staring at me whenever I moved my hair. It is a crazy thought for me to think they, being out here in the bush, have never or very rarely ever see a muzungu (white person).
I honestly love everything here. I just feel like God is missing, thus my passion is also absent. I think a problem could be that we have hardly any free time to be with God. I try to pray as often as possible.
The kids are coming tomorrow for foot washing, games, crafts, etc. I’m honestly slightly nervous. God, watch over me and us all.
